Men in major Indonesian cities have paid more attention to their appearance over the past year, pushing up total sales of skin care products for men.
A Nielsen survey revealed on Tuesday that sales rose 29.3 percent to 1.24 trillion Rp (144.5 million U.S. dollars) in 2010, against 957 000 000 000 Rp
Nielsen panel of home services associate director Hellen Katherina said household spending an average of around Rp 57,000 per purchase of grooming products for men in 2010, up 15 percent from Rp 49,000 in 2009.
"It indicates that the use of personal care products for men, such as shampoo, cleaning and even hands and body lotion, have become more popular," she said in a press conference about a recent survey.
The survey covered 4,550 households in five Indonesian cities, including major population centers of Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya and Medan.
