REYKJAVIK - A designer who rose to fame with a fragrance line inspired by stopping theft last year Eyjafjoell volcano said Monday it will launch a new fragrance from the eruption of last week on Iceland.
After the launch of "JEF Eyjafjallajoekull," a perfume of women made of meltwater from glaciers sitting on top of the volcano that erupted Eyjafjoell in April last year, Sigrun Lilja Gudjonsdottir said it would soon launch the "VJK Vatnajoekull," a fragrance for men named after the glacier that straddles Grimsvoetn.
"When the eruption began (May 21), my heart started beating really fast," Gudjonsdottir told AFP, adding that she quickly decided to rethink and rebrand a perfume several months in work.
"I thought, ok, now that we really need to speed things up," she said.
The new perfume will be launched from melting glaciers and, like last year, will be in Grasse, the perfume capital of France.
Although the final fragrance has not yet been decided, Gudjonsdottir said it would be "very masculine" scent that evokes the power of Grimsvoetn, which initially spewed ash 20 km (12 miles) in air .
